Every day, we are witnessing the nature of impermanence. Nevertheless, many of us have resistance of letting go holding on to false impressions that things will remain permanent. Growing resilience through adversity helps us to persevere through the perilous journeys of life. For this year’s Regionale, we are proposing a cinematographic experience between the viewing room and the exhibition space at La Kunsthalle Mulhouse.

Resisting permanence has six films and videos works from Thomas Georg Blank and Işik Kaya (Kaya&Blank Collective), Ruth Baettig, Guillaume Barth, Anuk Jovović, Marian Mayland and Mariana Murcia. The works of this exhibition draw on fundamental issues of our time; surveillance, liberty, resistance, personal journeys and accountability. The artists dream of a fairer future and question the beautiful and painful properties of impermanence. They try to make sense of our interconnectedness, looking for the real beneath the surface, trying to find justice and peace and ascertain the desire for transcendence.
